ASHES DIVIDE - THE STONE
MOVIE: Speed Racer
review: It was good movie overall, I was from the generation that grew up watching the cartoon on TV and it seemed like it may have been 50/50 split of the story line from the cartoon plus the new age of what speed racer maybe like now. It reminded me of the old speed racer and the hot wheels movies they have out for the kids now all combined together. I did enjoy watching the movie and thought it was a pretty good comparison to the cartoon. I would give it a thumbs up!
MOVIE: Iron Man
THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!!!! Another brilliant comic based movie by Marvel Comics. They know how to bring their characters to life. What a great way to start off the summer with a huge movie like Iron Man. It has action, comedy, twist and turns, it’s a must see. Robert Downey, Jr. brings Tony Stark to life, the suit is awesome but the way he portrays Stark makes you believe in his cause. A billionaire making weapons then trying to make things write. Stark is a smooth talking, alter-ego man, that is kidnapped in Afghanistan to make a deadly weapon, for terrorist, and instead makes a suit of armor to become Iron Man. Jeff Bridges (while not giving to much away) plays a great villain, who mentored Stark after his parents were killed and then come the twist and turns. The special effects are the best I have ever seen, and there are so many one liners I could write a book. It’s a guy movie, date movie, family movie it has something for everyone. This is a must see to kick of! f the summer, go check it out. I give this movie 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Next weekend get ready Speed Racer...check in next week for another Movie Guru Review...See you at the movies!!!
Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street review:
Well it’s the official KZZK Movie guru, with another movie review.
Today I am discussing Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. After being out for almost 3 months Quincy has decided to grace us with some culture in brining Sweeny Todd to town. This movie is not a date movie, so if you like that lovey dovey crap, where boy meets girl loses girl and then gets girl back this movie is not for you. If you have been waiting for a musical slasher film, you finally have it, as Johnny Depp spends a fair amount of his screen time covered in buckets and buckets of blood. Sweeny Todd is a musical…YES THAT MEANS SINGING…however there is some much more
greed, death, murder, love, hate, blood, revenge, and cannibalism (yes people get eaten. Cool huh?) You hardly remember that it’s a musical. If you like Tim Burton (by the way he is the director) and if you seen some of his films, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, and Beetle Juice you know that he likes
movies dark and mysterious!
And he did not fail me in this film. He used a very limited color throughout the whole movie that runs from grey to black to grey again. He has a long history with Depp to, Johnny has been in 6 Tim Burton Movies, and he doesn’t let me down in this one. Johnny Depp brought Sweeny Todd to life,
this ain’t no pirates movie. He plays a wronged barber in London on a mission to kill those who stole his wife, daughter, and life. He is after the one man that took it all away - the evil Judge Turpin. Sweeny Todd plans to kill all who sit in his chair, but what about the body’s? He teams up
with a widowed baker Mrs. Neillie Lovett (played by Helena Bonham Carter) , a baker who makes meat pies (cannibalism part) Todd makes a chair that flips back into the dungeon so Lovette can make the pies. There are scenes that are out right nauseating. I have never seen Depp play such a dark character
so well and he can sing too. It’s about 2 hours long and it starts off dark and ends even darker!
If you like blood, if you like dark and sadistic movies, and if you can handle the singing this one is for you. I give it a B-. I’m your movie guru, next one JUMPER….See you at the Movies!
